George HW Bush discharged from hospital, family spokesman says

Senior Bush was the president from 1989-1993.

George Bush, 93, was hospitalized approximately two weeks ago, on April 22, just one day after attending the funeral for his wife, Barbara.

According to his spokesman Jim McGrath, George is home and doing well.

He is the father of former Republican President George W Bush who served from 2001 to 2009 and Jeb Bush, who unsuccessfully sought the 2016 Republican presidential nomination. Jim McGrath, a Bush family spokesman, tweeted on Friday evening that George H.W. Bush was discharged from Methodist Hospital after being treated for an infection. He also served as a congressman and as director of the Central Intelligence Agency.

Bush, the oldest living former president - and longest-lived president in US history - has vascular parkinsonism, a form of Parkinson's disease. When asked about his recovery, McGrath said, "The 41st President wants to go to ME this summer". The hospital announced it will name its new Walter Tower after the beloved couple.

He said that he was moved by the Houston Methodist announcement and that the atrium is attractive.

Bush has used a wheelchair and an electric scooter for mobility since developing a form of Parkinson's disease, and he has needed hospital treatment several times in recent years for respiratory problems.

On Thursday, a tweet on Mr Bush's Twitter account said: The doctors, nurses and support staff (at the hospital) are so nice, but the second I get the green light I'm outta here. In the days after he was hospitalized, Bush responded well to treatments and appeared to be recovering, McGrath said.
