Iran to withdraw from nuclear deal if United States pulls out

The nuclear deal was struck in 2015 between Iran and Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States, then led by Barack Obama.

In a televised presentation at the Israeli Ministry of Defense on Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Iran is running a program called Project Amad that is aimed at "developing five nuclear warheads".

As President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continue to plow ahead with "cartoonish allegations" in an effort to undermine the Iran nuclear deal-which most Americans support, despite the disinformation campaign against it-Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said in a video on Thursday that the US has "consistently violated" the terms of the accord and that the agreement will not be renegotiated. "But Trump's impetuousness to celebrate blew the cover", Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif posted to his Twitter account on May 1.

However, in his video on Thursday, Zarif warned that if Trump does not recertify the nuclear agreement on the May 12 deadline, "Iran will exercise our right to respond, in a manner of our choosing".

Iran denies seek to build a nuclear weapon, or ever breaching the 2015 agreement. "The documents obtained by Israel from inside of Iran show beyond any doubt that the Iranian regime was not telling the truth." the statement read.

In January, Trump extended sanctions relief on Iran under the deal for the last time, threatening to withdraw from it if the US Congress and his European allies can not fix the alleged "disastrous flaws".

It obliges Iran to limit its uranium enrichment activities in exchange for the lifting of nuclear-related sanctions by the U.S., European Union and the UN Security Council. He has urged Congress and the Europeans to "fix" the agreement, or he will kill it by May 12, when he has to re-certify Iran's compliance.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned of "dangerous times" as US President Donald Trump considers whether to remain in or leave the global deal that seeks to rein in Iran's nuclear weapons programme.

Two U.S. intelligence officials said they were particularly concerned about Iranian retaliation in harder-to-trace actions such as cyber attacks on the United States or its allies and attacks on soft targets by people without obvious ties to Tehran. Those changes have included proposals to limit Iran's ballistic missile program, which Tehran says it has as a defensive deterrent. "Leaving the JCPOA will harm the peace and security of the Middle East region", he further said. The United Nations' atomic watchdog previously reported such efforts and said it has "no credible indications of activities in Iran relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device after 2009".
