Facebook glitch: Is this cat picture hate speech?

This prompted social media journalist Matt Navarra to joke that even Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg was not exempt from the hate speech button.

The question was a poll that asked, "Does this poll contain a hate speech?"

Facebook announced that it is now testing a downvote feature for selected users the new Facebook feature will work similarly to Reddit.

Facebook says it is trying to lift the quality and integrity of the content in News Feed while giving users more control over the posts and ads they see. Last week, the company published its 27 pages of guidelines it calls Community Standards in a move to become more transparent following criticism the company's censors removed posts that did not violate the terms and for allowing flagged content containing hate speech to remain posted.

Yet the hate speech button was criticised as suppression by some, with American writer Matt Walsh calling it an intentional move by Facebook to remove "conservative content".

Social network Facebook is testing in some countries, a new button "downvote", which gives you the opportunity to Express disagreement with the publications.

These options are "hate speech", "test p1", "test p2" and "test p3", prompting some people to suggest that the form "clearly wasn't supposed" to appear on Facebook in its current form. Many immediately questioned if the feature was test - perhaps a premature one - from Facebook, which has made eliminating hate speech a priority.

However, Facebook determined a bug caused the internal feature to launch publicly.

The new setting did not go down too well with users, who shared their voice on Twitter.
