Capcom and iam8bit launch limited edition Mega Man cartridges

Both the 2 and X reprints will have 8500 copies available. But it looks like that's not happening this time around, as both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X can be yours in handsome blue form - and fully playable to boot.

Capcom announced today that it has teamed up with iam8bit to release special edition Mega Man 2 and Mega Man X cartridges for the NES and the SNES, respectively.

Both packages are limited to 8,500 copies each and come with a premium box, instruction booklet, and some ultra-collectible retro art on the packaging. Although you get the cartridge, there will also be an embossed box and an instruction manual. The downside is each game will set you back $100, but at least there's no fire warning this time around unlike last year's Street Fighter II.

Let's say you're looking for something more on the SNES side of things.

What does that get you?

Chances are these'll go quick when they begin shipping in late September, so if you're any kind of Mega Man devotee, you won't miss out on either one. In both cases, you'll get a cartridge that can actually be played on original hardware. 1,000 cartridges in each run will also be a special "Glow-in-the-Dark Blue" color, but unfortunately, you won't be able to order a blue cart directly.
