Strong wind and heavy rain warning issued for Anglia region

Just days after Britain basked in a record-breaking heatwave, temperatures are going to plummet and snow is set to return.

The Met Office said spray and flooding could lead to hard driving conditions and some road closures, and there was a small chance homes and businesses could be flooded.

Yesterday we reported the Met Office had issued a weather warning for rain for Kent.

Trains and buses could also be affected with the Met Office warning of possible delays or cancellations.

The Met Office reports that "feel like" temperatures on Sunday will be 4C, before rising to 6C on the Monday.

Alex Deakin, Met Office Meteorologist, said: "Through the night clearer skies further north means it will be a chilly night, four or five in towns and cities but in some rural spots it will be close to freezing, particularly in the Highlands of Scotland".

A WEATHER warning for heavy rain across the Isle of Wight comes into force tonight (Sunday).

On higher ground there could also be a mix of snow as well as rain, but it is unlikely to settle on the ground, added West.

Much of the United Kingdom was basking in record April temperatures last week with values hitting the highest April level for nearly 70 years last Thursday when 29.1C was measured in London.

'The April average for rainfall in southeast England is around 50mm so there will be some places that top that within 24 hours, so that's we're concerned, ' she said.

In contrast, much of Scotland and Northern Ireland are expected to be sunny with warmer temperatures.

A dusting of snow can be expected on higher ground.
