Search for vanished family turns up woman's body

The vehicle was found on March 26 and investigators have said they believe the crash was intentional.

After investigating for almost a week, the authorities have now confirmed that the Indian family of four has drowned in the Eel River in Northern California, following a massive storm.

Below is the famous photo of Devonte Hart. She said she's spent the years since getting clean and back on her feet, praying that her children were somewhere happy and that they knew she still loved them.

Search and rescue teams in Northern California discovered the body of a woman Friday morning in the area where a Valencia family's vehicle was seen plunging into the rain-swollen Eel River a week ago, according to Mendocino County officials.

Police had previously said they believed the Hart family died in a suicide plunge from a scenic overlook.

Just days before the crash, the mothers had been reported to the state over allegations of abuse or neglect, according to a spokeswoman for the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services.

Those preliminary results showed Jennifer Hart had a.102 BAC (blood alcohol content) while Sarah Hart and two of the children had a positive toxicology finding in their blood for Diphenhydramine, an active ingredient in Benadryl.

Water levels at the time the accident were too high and conditions too unsafe for a thorough search.

Davis' children Devonte, Sierra and Jeremiah were with their adoptive parents, Jennifer and Sarah Hart, and their three adopted siblings when Jennifer Hart apparently drove the family off a California cliff last month. The office was still waiting on toxicology results from a third child.

Carpenter said none of the car's occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Authorities are also continuing to search for members of another family farther south along the Mendocino County coast.

Authorities have said that data from the vehicle's software suggested the crash was deliberate, though the California Highway Patrol has not concluded why the vehicle went off an ocean overlook on a rugged part of coastline. In fact, she said, Downs was jovial when she came home that last evening of her life. In addition, he stated that until the wreck, your family needed stopped at Naselle, Wash., roughly a 90-minute driveway northwest of Woodland, Wash., where they lived.

The body of an African American female found in the ocean near the crash scene still hasn't been identified, and Devonte, Hannah and Sierra Hart remain missing.

Five bodies were found March 26 near Mendocino and a body was pulled out of the surf last weekend but its identity was not immediately identified.
