Saturday's Outlook: What To Expect From The Severe Weather Threat

A few of these storms could become severe.

Threats: Strong to severe storms are likely. We're expecting a mix of sun and clouds with highs in the mid 80s. Lows will be in the upper 50s to mid 60s overnight. Another front arrives by Wednesday, bringing only a small chance for rain Wednesday afternoon and evening. Along with the rain there will be blustery conditions with E/NE winds blowing in at 20 miles per hour with gust to 40 miles per hour or more!

A second line of potentially damaging storms will cross the MS state line and enter Northwest Alabama around 1 PM to 3 PM, then it will track across I-65 and along I-565 toward Huntsville from 3 PM through 5 PM, then it tracks into Sand Mountain from 4 PM through 6 PM. Despite somewhat dry conditions going in, there could be some localized flooding. This may cause some storm cells to rotate.

Not every storm, but some could pack in wind gusts 50 to 60 miles per hour which could cause damage and small hail. It will end entirely by around midnight.

The line of storms will have strong damaging winds embedded.

I always stress "preparation, not panic" when facing any kind of potential inclement weather situation.

Impacts: A severe storm is possible at any point Saturday, but the risk of severe weather looks to be highest after 12PM. The scattered storms that are moving through East Texas at this time are not expected to become severe.a few may be fairly strong, but the more severe weather is beginning to form north and northwest of the Dallas/Ft.

Know the difference in a "watch" and a "warning".

Severe thunderstorms will affect Central Alabama later today.
