Gmail Testing Self-Destructing Emails in New 'Confidential Mode'

The company, however, is not revealing what the new Gmail design will look like.

According to The Verge, Google will finally bring features such as "snooze" and "smart reply" to Gmail's web client, which have been available on Google's alternative mail client- Inbox by Gmail. Gmail is pulling in a few features from its sibling, Google Inbox.

Last but not least, Google's added three layout views that'll allow you to change how your mail is displayed.

It's been a while since we've seen a big update from Gmail, Google's trusty cloud-based email provider. A full Android TV device hasn't been released by Google in a while now, not since the Nexus Player and new levels of functionality have been developed since then that would be wonderful inside a streaming media dongle with 4K and HDR from Google.

According to the report, which cited a TechCrunch tipster named Chaim, Gmail's compose message pane will now also feature a lock with a clock in front of it. If you take a photo of a dog or cat that's not yours and you want to know what breed it is, you can use the Google Lens preview from within the Photos app.

"You can configure the expiration date so that your email disappears after 1 week, 1 month, multiple years, etc.", Tech Crunch writes.

It's too early to be certain-since we can't actually play with the new feature ourselves, we can't be sure-but it seems like these confidential emails are just messages that require a link to access, with the ability for that link to expire at a set time. In addition, there will be the features like "Smart Replies" with Gmail.com that delivers mechanical replies (powered by machine-learning concept) to the email accounts, which can be delivered with one click. Despite already having add-ons from third-party services, the redesign will soon feature an add-on that integrates the following: Google Tasks, Google Calendar, and Google Keep.

Google is said to be planning to roll out the new look of Gmail to G Suite and regular users over the coming weeks, though no specific date has been mentioned yet.

The other change which was noticed in the teardown, recommends that Google could be working to improve the Archive feature which the tech giant released past year.

Major' Gmail update might convince you to use email again. The new look, largely inspired by the recent update to its mobile app, will come with more Google Calendar integrations.
