USA readies response to Syria attacks after United Nations clash with Russian Federation

President Trump tweeted on Wednesday: "Our relationship with Russian Federation is worse now than it has ever been, and that includes the Cold War".

They also congratulated the Syrian people, army and leadership on the great victories that were achieved, stressing that the final victory in the face of the terrorist war is imminent and that Syria will remain the home of moderate Islam in the face of extremist thought.

With the suspected gas attack in Douma, he feels obliged to keep his word and strike again, presumably with a more forceful response than a year ago, which apparently did not deter future chemical attacks.

"The only thing I worry about is that it's not going to happen", he said about a possible military response.

Syria's Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that his threats are "reckless" and endanger global peace and security.

The reaction from Assad backer Moscow is unpredictable and Russian Federation has threatened retaliatory action against the United States if missiles are fired at Syria.

Earlier on Wednesday, the former shadow foreign minister Emma Reynolds said she now believed Labour had been wrong to oppose action in 2013. "The Russians told the Syrian army's leadership they had intelligence on possible USA and French targets in Syria", Observatory head Abdel Rahman said.

Earlier today, the president took to Twitter to warn Russian Federation to "get ready" for "smart" missiles. In the aftermath of the attack, he criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iran for supporting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and threatened there would be a "big price to pay" for the deaths.

It comes nearly exactly a year after a chemical attack in the northern Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun killed dozens of people.

The UN Security Council will meet behind closed doors Thursday to discuss the threat of military action against Syria after President Donald Trump warned that "missiles will be coming".

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said any U.S. missile salvo could be an attempt to destroy evidence of the reported gas attack in the Syrian town of Douma, for which Damascus and Moscow have denied any responsibility.

Trump did not detail what a strike on Syria would look like, or whether these would be USA missiles. Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday, vowing that "smart" missiles "will be coming". It seems nearly certain Trump will also respond militarily to the 2018 gassing. The tweet was followed by another one, urging Moscow to stop what he described as an "arms race".

Cafarella said the United States must decide how far it wants to go in terms of hitting Iranian proxy forces near U.S. positions in eastern Syria, or even targeting Russian-supported facilities.

French president Emmanuel Macron called for a strong, joint response to the alleged chemical attack.

But the strike was limited and created to not draw America into the chaos of Syria's bloody civil war. The U.S. mission is to support local militias fighting the Islamic State, but the U.S. has avoided clashing with Assad's armed forces or their Iranian and Russian backers.

Media reports implied that Trump and his advisers had been considering a "powerful" military response to the alleged use of a chlorine bomb, deeming it the only credible way to deter further chemical attacks.

Retired Lt. Gen. Yevgeny Buzhinsky, the former chief of the Russian Defense Ministry's worldwide department, warned that Russia has thousands of military advisers in Syria "practically in every battalion", and a strike on any Syrian facility could jeopardize their lives.

"Russia vows to shoot down any and all missiles fired at Syria".
