New York Giants: Odell Beckham Jr. at first day of conditioning program

When Odell Beckham Jr shows up on Monday for the start of Giants preseason workouts, it will speak volumes about his mindset. He explained he'd not spoke to Beckham following the trade rumors surfaced or right after the online video appeared on the internet.

During a conference call Monday morning, Shurmur stressed how important it was for all players to be present in order to learn the new program and get to know the completely revamped coaching staff.

Beckham and the Giants are believed to be at odds over his contract situation.

"Certainly that communication is between me and him, " Shurmur said. To many, this is a big step for both the Giants and Beckham himself.

Kim Jones of NFL Network initially reported that Beckham planned on attending. "He understands the importance of the offseason and he's a competitive guy and, again, we had already started communicating before all that information kind of got out there and was talked about a great deal". The Los Angeles Rams, who have pulled off a series of roster additions this off-season, were thought to at one time be the favourites to trade for Beckham Jr., but that is no longer seemingly the case in the wake of the team acquiring fellow wideout Brandin Cooks from the New England Patriots last week. "I'm glad he is here today". I didn't want to get in the way of that.

"Odell, he's got to do what is best for him in getting ready to play this upcoming season", Manning said on a conference call on Monday. "We're not looking to get rid of him, OK?"

"But when you tell me you want me in your life to help you, when you tell me that we will be accountable with reading our Bibles and sharing scriptures, and it don't happen, then you wonder why things around you start to happen". "We all know the talent that Odell has and what he brings to the football field, and I look forward to playing with him this year and for years to come". He was named the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year. This time around, there is a new coach and coaching staff, a new general manager and a new injury, as Beckham is coming off October surgery to fix a fractured left ankle.
