Congress accuses Modi of not fulfilling promises

BJP MPs have chose to observe a fast on April 12 to protest against the parliament logjam, said union minister Ananth Kumar.

"My tweets are misconstrued that it is harming the BJP rather it strengthens that at least there are people like me in the BJP who are concerned with Dalit atrocities after April 2 agitation". The first half of Budget Session (January 29-February 9) was still productive, while the second half (March 5-April 6) witnessed repeated adjournments in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He said that the Congress was "throttling" democracy and "abusing" people's mandate. The opposition resorted to disrupting Parliament as it had no issue to raised, he said.

While the ruling alliance led by the BJP is known for its "win after win", the Congress-led opposition's agenda was "remove Modi, snatch his chair" and its identity is "lie after lie". He interacted with workers of five Lok Sabhaconstituencies and all 734 district presidents of the party via video conference.

Modi, who comes from Other Backward Classes (OBC), also invoked his humble background and said his rivals were unable to digest that a "son of a poor mother" had become prime minister. Both Houses were adjourned sine die, capping a month of relentless disruptions and stated to be the least productive since 2000 with almost 250 working hours being wasted. "Feeling concerned, scared and anguished over rising violence against Dalits and the anti-Dalit mindset of the Modi government, even the BJP's Dalit MPs are raising questions", Congress spokesperson Jaiveer Shergil told reporters here.

He said the Congress had been continuously highlighting the plight of these weaker sections, but the "hypocrite BJP leadership seems to be busy playing with fire by deliberately dividing society".

Amit Shah said Prime Minister Modi has fulfilled "Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas" effectively. This is not because we made a mistake.

Dr. Yashwant Singh, BJP MP from Nagina is the latest Dalit MP from Uttar Pradesh to publicly show his resentment against the party leadership. That the parties have started making preliminary moves with an eye on the election was evident from the timely Delhi visits of Trinamool Congress leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her Andhra Pradesh counterpart and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, who made it a point to meet other Opposition leaders to explore the possibility of a federal front.
