Two teachers, tutor held in CBSE paper leak case

The two teachers have been identified as 29-year-old Rishabh and 26-year-old Rohit, who allegedly leaked the paper to one Tauqeer (26), a tutor at Easy Class Coaching Centre.

The paper leaks came to light when an anonymous "Whistleblower" emailed the CBSE chairperson Anita Karwal a day before the Class 10 Mathematics exam on March, informing her of the paper being leaked on WhatsApp.

The three accused arrested in connection with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) question paper leak were sent to two days' police custody by Delhi's Karkardooma court on Sunday.

Police have zeroed in on six WhatsApp groups that figured in the trail of transmission of papers and they are being probed. "The teachers' duo used to click the pictures of the papers 40 minutes prior to that and send to Tauqeer who further used to circulate to the students".

After reports of paper leaks emerged, the CBSE had cancelled Class-10 Math and Class-12 Economics exams earlier this week. Ever since, scores of students have taken to mass-protesting to express their dissatisfaction over the poor governance and the CBSE re-examination decision. Both the student and his father were questioned. This was done since the ambit of the probe has widened and there is a possibility of the papers leak being connected to other parts of the country.

The police too got a call in the control room about the alleged paper leak on the same Tuesday. "Three people have been arrested under provisions of Indian Penal Code while nine, who are underage, have been detained under Juvenile Act". Swarup said that Board has suspended K S Rana, the official found lax in supervising examination centre (0859) with immediate effect.

The police said they learnt of the suspension of the official through the media.

It announced a nationwide retest for Economics on April 25, and said if deemed suitable, a Math re-exam would be conducted only for Class 10 students of Delhi, Haryana and the NCR.
