LeBron matches MJ's double-digit scoring mark

"I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, just because of what he was able to accomplish", James said past year after breaking Jordan's playoff scoring record. It's just kind of happening organically.

Cleveland superstar LeBron James matched National Basketball Association icon Michael Jordan's record streak of 866 straight double-digit scoring games on Wednesday (Mar 29) in leading the Cavaliers to a 118-105 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.

"You can sit there and tell your grandkids, hopefully, one day that you were a part of that".

He wasn't the only one making history.

The Heat won their seventh straight game at home and improved to 9-1 in South Florida since the All-Star break. "If I can do it, anybody can". Jordan didn't comment on James breaking his record, but James was humbled afterwards, per ESPN. However, James already had passed Jordan as the league's all-time leading playoff scorer last spring. "That's an incredible feat".

"At this point in my career, I'm just trying to break the mold, break the narrative of guys in their 15th year". Even though with the season that they're having, when accomplishments happen throughout the season, you try not to take them for granted. "I think I fell in love with the game because of Mike, just because of what he was able to accomplish".

Jordan did not comment on James tying his streak.

With Dwyane Wade and LeBron James squaring off as opponents for the first time in over a year, the Heat (40-35) took control in the first half with a tremendous defensive effort that limited Cleveland (44-30) to a season-low 34 points and snapped the Cavs' five-game winning streak.

James, who began his streak on January 6, 2007, can break Jordan's record Friday night at home against the New Orleans Pelicans. The first-quarter hit caused a front tooth subluxation - meaning the tooth is loose but not displaced.

The Sixers initial tests didn't indicate a concussion, but Embiid was hospitalised after the game, posting a brief video of himself there on Instagram captioned "Not Good". The All-Star missed their game at Charlotte on Wednesday night and his status will be updated when appropriate.

"Well, I tell you, LeBron has been healthy, and he continues to be healthy", Cavs acting coach Larry Drew said when asked about James' impending record before the game.

"KD feels like he's ready to go - we're going to give him two extra days just to be safe", he said.
