Notification suggests Android Wear could be renamed 'Wear OS'

The user named H3x0n made a new post in the android wear sub-reddit where he/she put up an image of the new discovery. While the date of these changes is unknown for now, we will probably hear more about Wear OS in May, during Google I/O. In addition, the search giant will also give Wear OS a new logo that resembles that of the Google Assistant. Apple now leads the way in the wearables sector, ahead of Xiaomi, Fitbit and Garmin, all products and brands not using Android Wear.

So if you weren't paying attention, the first Android P Developer Preview already launched nearly a week ago, giving us a glimpse of what Google thinks the next Android version should look like.

The notification received by the Reddit user was generated by Google Play services, which manages the connectivity part for smart wearables running on Android Wear.

According to Android Police, Google is experimenting a rounded search bar for its mobile site which resembles the search bar on the Pixel launcher.

It appears that Google is rebranding its Android Wear as Wear OS soon.

This function alerts the Android Wear users about a nearby Android Wear device to pair up with it to your current Android Wear device. Unlike its previous grey display background, the Android wear 2.8 now features a darker background display.

Google launched the new payment services and they are promoting the Android Wear in the same way they have done branding new pay app.

Android wears are mainly used for tracking the physical activities such as walk, run, and other exercises.

Retooling the Android Wear platform to Wear OS actually makes a lot of sense now, especially as it's not for Android-only compatibility devices anymore.
