Tariffs should be part of USA trade policy, Trump foe Warren says

Sen. Elizabeth Warren is refusing to take a DNA test to prove her Native American heritage following President Trump name calling her "Pocahontas".

Warren said, "I am not running for president in 2020". Host Chuck Todd pointed out a recent Massachusetts' newspaper editorial that called upon the supposed Native American to take a $99 DNA test sample.

"I never used my family tree to get a break or get ahead", she said.

President Donald Trump has constantly derided Warren, widely regarded as a likely 2020 Democratic presidential candidate, as "Pocahontas". And never used it for anything.

"It could maybe put that issue to rest", Archilla said, "but I think a lot of people just have issues with Elizabeth Warren in general".

But, the Senator refused to say whether she would take the test.

"That's the story that my brothers and I all learned from our mom and our dad, from our grandparents, from all of our aunts and uncles", she said. Her parents, she said, fell in love as teenagers in Oklahoma and eloped because her mother's Native American heritage made her father's family "bitterly opposed" to the union. But she's also been dogged by the allegation that she has claimed Native American ancestry to advance her academic career.

However, Warren's reflection of her heritage remains based on what she was told by her parents.

Warren then said that "more than half of all native women have been the victims of sexual violence", and the "United States government does nothing about that".

Harvard Law School professor Charles Fried, who helped recruit Warren, has called any suggestion she enjoyed an affirmative-action benefit "nonsense".

"So look, I am not running for president of the United States", Warren answered.

"If I don't win the election, [news] ratings are going to go so far down, they'll be out of business, every one of them", he said.

Warren also said that she respects the distinction between heritage and citizenship and "that tribal membership is determined by tribes - and only by tribes". Warren could deliver the rebuke of all rebukes to Trump by posting her DNA test results to back up her claims.
