Miami nightclub shut down after woman rides horse on dance floor

The city manager revoked its license and deemed the incident a threat to public safety and potential violations of animal cruelty laws.

A video of the freaky incident at Mokai in South Beach was posted on social media and caused both an assortment of horse puns and serious concerns about animal cruelty and safety hazards for clubgoers.

Video of a panicked horse inside a packed Florida nightclub has created an internet storm that resulted in the venue being stripped of its business license. She noted that the distressed horse would have likely been put down - through no fault of its own - if it had kicked someone and injured them.

"You guys are absolutely disgusting allowing animal cruelty inside your club", one user posted.

"Last night, MBPD was made aware of this incident at Mokai".

The animal's well-being was also a big concern, but authorities were able to locate the horse and have said the animal is in good health. "As such, we have launched a joint investigation with [City of Miami Beach] Code Enforcement", the police wrote.

Bianca Jagger, then-wife of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, was photographed on a top of white horse while celebrating her 30th birthday with celebrities such as Andy Warhol and Liza Minnelli.

As weird as the incident is, it's not the first time that a horse has been an attraction at a USA nightclub.

"Animal cruelty is an abhorrent and vile act", Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said in a statement.

In 2015, she defended her action in a letter to the Financial Times.
