The Miami Dolphins have agreed to trade wide receiver Jarvis Landry to the Cleveland Browns, according to a National Football League source.

Trades can not be made official until the NFL's new league year begins next Wednesday.

Miami and Landry were on different pages as the wide receiver wanted a long-term deal, but the Dolphins were either unwilling, or unable to pay it. The only certainty is it would far exceed anything the Ravens have paid a wide receiver in the past. Since then, the former LSU Tiger has been selected to three Pro Bowls.

Jarvis Landry has been all over the place this offseason. The Dolphins were afraid of paying a slot receiver, but Cleveland will likely commit in a big way and that will ultimately decide in the long run if the trade was worth making.

Now it will be the Browns who will negotiate with his agent.

But now he'll bring that to Cleveland where the Browns are trying to rebuild an offense of a team that went 0-16 in 2017. He'll be a flawless complement to former Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon and help and offense that struggled to score in 2017.

But his volatile personality became a concern a year ago for Miami.

It's assumed Cleveland will work out a multi-year contract with Landry. He also had 987 receiving yards and nine touchdown catches. 1 and 4 overall and five in the first 64, the Browns had the ability to pull off a major deal for a major player. Landry fits pretty well with what Cleveland is trying to build.
