Mark Hamill gets star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Mark Hamill finally got his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and fellow Star Wars star Harrison Ford was by his side to celebrate as well as honor the late Carrie Fisher.

Hamill's star is number 2,360 star on the famed strip.

Actor Mark Hamill and his wife Marilou York pose after unveiling his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, California March 8, 2018. But not to take away from Hamill's day, it was the mention of our beloved Carrie Fisher that really proved to be one of the most memorable moments of the ceremony.

Ford went next, saying that more people showed up for Mark than they did for his star ceremony in 2003, "a lot more".

"Mark Hamill, I feel is top notch", said Percy Chang, who waited in line for about eight hours.

Lucas also weighs in, praising the actor for his enthusiasm that was the quality he was looking for in Luke Skywalker.

Set in front of the El Capitan Theatre, excited fans and guests gathered to recognize Hamill as a select few addressed the crowd with heartfelt-and often playful-speeches. "I haven't been speechless since Force Awakens". "He changed my life forever in a way that still reverberates today".

Hamill, who also starred on the stage in "Amadeus" and voiced the Joker in the animated Batman TV series, returned the favour to Lucas.

"You know I had a beginning, a middle and an end, so whether I'm not involved or just a member of the audience, I'm looking forward to it", he told AFP.

Before the ceremony Twitter user, @NJSimmondsTPK posted a tweet explaining how her seven-year-old daughter was very upset because she wanted to wear a Star Wars t-shirt to school but was too afraid her classmates would bully her for liking "boy stuff".

"If it weren't for the public, I'd be nowhere", said Hamill.

"From Jedi to Joker, it's been a fantastic ride". "He is, as he always was, a quiet, sincere, honest person".
