Leicester ace Mahrez admits Man City transfer frustration

"Moving forward, I want to try to give my best for the team". So my mind and my focus is on Leicester.

"In football players come and players leave".

"I heard some people saying I hadn't been talking to the club but I was always talking to the club".

"Everyone to be honest has been very good and it's the past now".

Mahrez added: "Manchester City is a good move for everyone".

Mahrez saw a deadline-day move to Premier League leaders Manchester City fall through in January, leading to his absence from Leicester's squad for 10 days. And the Algeria worldwide says the saga has not caused any tension within the club.

"I was away from here because I needed some time to think, it was a hard situation", Mahrez told Sky Sports News.

The situation has since been cleared up, with a club spokesperson telling Goal: "It's not a genuine post and we're working with Facebook to have it removed". "It was a hard situation but we moved on, everyone - the club, players, me".

Asked if he had any regrets about how he handled the situation, he said: "You always have regrets, but at the time I thought it was the best thing to do". The club handled it very well.

"We always talk between me and the club, everything is good, so we will see in the summer if things come".

'Like I said, it was hard, I spoke with the players, I spoke with manager, spoke with everyone, everyone was okay, everyone was good'.

"It was hard but I spoke with the players, I spoke with the manager, I spoke with everyone".

Mahrez also insists he faced no hostility from his team-mates or club figures following the failed move to City and is now firmly back in the Leicester fold.

"I want to thank everybody for the kindness and support they have shown me in this incredible city".

A post appeared on Mahrez's official Facebook page claiming the winger will retire from playing due to injury.
