Mizzou's Michael Porter Jr. To Return For SEC Tournament

Per ESPN's Paul Finebaum, Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin confirmed Porter said he wanted to help the team down the stretch.

Michael Porter Jr. will make his much-anticipated return to Missouri's lineup Thursday in the SEC tournament.

Porter underwent back surgery, a microdiscectomy of the L3-L4 spinal disks and at the time Missouri said that the procedure would "likely cause him to miss the remainder of the season". But I'd be surprised if he played 30 minutes. Porter had suggested during the season that he would work to return, and that's set to happen for Thursday's game against the victor of Georgia-Vanderbilt.

"He's prepared to play", Martin told reporters after a brief Missouri practice at Scottrade Center. "Unless the trainer or Mike says otherwise, he's playing".

Porter has the ability to score at all three levels and if he proves his back is 100 percent healthy, he automatically will be in the conversation to be the No. 1 overall pick along with Deandre Ayton and Luka Doncic. They will take on the victor of tonight's game between Georgia and Vanderbilt tomorrow afternoon at 3:25pm ET. The Tigers went 20-11 in the regular season and have earned a first round bye in the SEC Tournament as the fifth seed.
