Robert Lopez becomes first person to achieve double EGOT status

In 2014, composer Robert Lopez became the youngest member of the EGOT club when he won an Oscar for his hit song "Let It Go" from the Disney smash "Frozen".

Celebrities attend 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party at Sunset Plaza. I can only imagine the sense of accomplishment the Lopez couple have now from a creative and commercial standpoint for writing award-winning songs like "Remember Me" and "Let It Go". The songwriter is now 43 years old, which means he's young enough to do it all again a couple more times.

Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez scooped the award for Best Original Song at the 2018 Oscars.

In 2014, Lopez was named the youngest EGOT victor after receiving an Academy Award for co-writing "Let it Go" from "Frozen", again with his wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez.

An EGOT? Oh, that would be an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony - otherwise known as the full house of swanky awards, and only twelve human beings have ever managed to collect them all. The pair won a Tony for best original score past year and a Grammy in January for best musical theater album for their work on Dear Evan Hansen. Only a dozen people, such as Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, and Whoopi Goldberg, have accomplished that feat. He owns two Daytime Emmy awards for his work on the animated series Wonder Pets.

"We knew we wanted to write one version that was big and uptempo and had a mariachi feel - they call it ranchero songs", adds Lopez. His work on the Disney movie also resulted in him winning Grammys for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media. Lopez concluded their speech by paying tribute to his late mother, who passed away last summer (17).
