Donald Trump sparks twar with Alec Baldwin

Alec Baldwin returned to Saturday Night Live to portray President Trump, days after the commander-in-chief said the actor's impression was "agony for those who were forced to watch."

This week's cold open follows a week in which Baldwin and Trump exchanged barbs on Twitter. Trump spoke about gun control ("I can only run into so many schools and save everybody"), the recent resignations plaguing his administration, and how Wakanda is "beating us".

"Alec Baldwin, whose dying mediocre career was saved by his bad impersonation of me on SNL, now says playing me was agony. I have one of the healthiest mentals".

He added, "Maybe we just take everyone's guns away".

Mocking Trump's comments following the February 14 Florida school shooting that saw the president claim he would have run into the school unarmed, Baldwin's Trump went one better and said he'd run into North Korea without a weapon. "The guy with the gun wouldn't know what hit him; bing bing ding dong dang, he' done" says "Trump".

Baldwin, a father of four whose career only a few years ago was dogged by run-ins with the paparazzi, had told The Hollywood Reporter of his portrayal of Trump: "Every time I do it now, it's like agony".

Pence, seemingly distraught, was then assured by Trump that he "met with the NRA, [and] they gave me 30 million good reasons not to change a thing".

Simply put, there's so much happening in the White House, that Trump/Baldwin stresses that he's still running Washington D.C. like a business: a waffle house at 2 am.

Later in the episode during "Weekend Update", Colin Jost followed up on just how many people have been resigning from the White House, looking specifically at communications director Hope Hicks. In fact, we know he's so good because Trump thinks he's so bad. She's like a daughter to me.
