Two dead in Central Michigan University shooting

A Central Michigan University student shot and killed his parents Friday morning in a fourth-floor dorm room, sources told the Detroit Free Press.

A student at Central Michigan University suspected of shooting to death his parents inside a campus dormitory during a domestic dispute was arrested on Saturday, the school said, after a daylong manhunt.

The school says police believe the Friday morning shooting "started from a domestic situation".

Sometime after midnight police took 19-year-old James Eric Davis into custody said an officer with Mount Pleasant Public Safety.

The campus will remain on lockdown while the suspect is still at large.

Police also said they "made contact with" Davis on Thursday evening and took him to a hospital for what they believed was an overdose or bad reaction to drugs.

Lt. Larry Klaus said police are searching for James Eric Davis Jr.

Klaus said video at the dorm suggests that the suspect fled on foot.

"At that time he was wearing a dark hoodie".

"This has been a tragic day". Students are still on lockdown but police say that campus is safe. Pleasant campus scheduled for Saturday also were canceled. Officers in camouflage knocked on doors and checked possible hiding places, such as yards and porches. The police took him to McLaren Central Michigan hospital in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and handed him over to the medical staff.

Davis is from another Chicago suburb called Plainfield.

James Davis Jr.is accused of shooting and killing his parents, James Davis Sr. and Diva Davis.

Bellwood Police Chief Jiminez Allen on Friday called it "a very hard time" for the department. He had to catch a flight to Florida. "Just really disheartening to hear that, that kind of thing happened right here".

19, has been identified as the suspect in the shooting in Campbell Hall at about 8:30 a.m. Friday.
