Golfer Bill Haas, Luke Wilson involved in deadly rollover crash

The Riviera Country Club hosting the Open is just a few minutes' drive from Pacific Palisades.

A 50-year-old woman was injured when the Ferrari struck her BMW, which flipped on its side and landed against a parked auto, according to local ABC affiliate KABC.

Police said Luke Wilson was in an SUV that was also sideswiped by the Ferrari, but Wilson was not injured.

Details of the crash were updated on their website. The PGA statement said that the person killed was a member of the family hosting Haas and his family for this weekend's Genesis Open.

The crash involved a Ferrari and a BMW in the 500 block of North Chautauqua Boulevard and was reported at about 6:30 p.m., Los Angeles County fire officials said.

Luke Wilson is best known for his roes in Legally Blonde, The Royal Tenenbaums and Anchorman. Haas was taken to a hospital but released with no serious injuries. "Bill is very fortunate", his father told the Golf Channel.

'Mr Bill Haas was the passenger in the Ferrari'.

Haas, though, has withdrawn from this week's tournament and will return home to Greenville, N.C., according to a statement by the PGA Tour and Haas' agent, Allen Hobbs of Players Group Management.

UPDATE: KTLA reporting Haas was indeed the passenger, and that he is expected to survive. "He appreciates the support of friends, family and the golf world as a whole, and he has asked for privacy as he processes what has happened".
