Helicopter Crashes In The Grand Canyon

Three people died when a helicopter crashed in the Grand Canyon in Arizona, Saturday, police confirmed to CNN.

He said winds up to 50 miles per hour and rugged conditions near the crash site were making it hard for rescue crews to reach the victims.

"We are in the recovery and investigation mode now", Bradley told The Associated Press.

According to reports, the place was reportedly carrying six passengers and a pilot.

Calls and emails to Nevada-based Papillion for comment on the crash were not immediately returned Sunday. He did not name which company the helicopter was part of.

Kenitzer said the aircraft, a Eurocopter EC130, sustained substantial damage.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate, Kenitzer said.

The sights from the helicopter inspired Halvorson to start the touring business.

"We are having difficulties getting the four people out of the crash site area to the hospital", he said.

The business first operated from the Grand Canyon's South Rim before expanding operations to McCarran International Airport in 1997.
