Drake Gives Miami Student $50000 Scholarship

"Drake told me that he has read great things about me and appreciates how hard I've worked through so many trials and made a decision to give me $50K for my tuition", she wrote.

In addition to surprising James with the check, the Canadian rapper also stopped by the Miami Senior High School to shoot some more of the video with the younger students and donate $25,000 to the institution. She revealed that she was asked to take part in a video encouraging people to donate to the university and did not expect to see Drake there.

ABC News spoke with Destiny James - the lucky University of Miami student who received Drake's generous scholarship - who said she "ran in a circle and fell to the ground" after learning that Drake would be presenting a $50,000 check to her. James is a first-generation college student who was raised in a single-parent home from a low-income family.

Drake showed up to present her with the check after reading an essay she submitted to receive a scholarship a year ago.

Rapper Drake brightened the days of many Miami students on Monday. Where can you say you got Drake to go your school? While there, he performed for the students and then donated $25,000 to the school and promised to provide them with new uniforms designed by his OVO clothing brand. The rapper was there to shoot a video for his hit song "God's Plan", which recently debuted at the top of the charts.

This week, Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant flexed the fan in him by releasing a clip of himself rapping to Drake's "Diplomatic Immunity" single. Even without the music video, "God's Plan", already has been creating some serious buzz with one lyric that seems to be showing up in tweet after tweet.

The music producer also teamed up with Migos in the group's song "Deadz" and Kendrick Lamar for his track "GOD".
