Olivier Giroud confirms Deschamps advised him to move

Arsenal fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to give their reaction to the performance of Olivier Giroud for Chelsea against Watford.

Having dropped down the pecking order with Arsene Wenger's Gunners, Giroud knew he would need to be playing more regularly if he is to convince Deschamps to take him to Russian Federation in June.

"I spoke with Deschamps", Giroud added.

Giroud has been a consistent part of Deschamps's plans despite a plethora of attacking talent in France, and the target man has scored 29 goals in 69 France appearances.

The french global who joined the premier league champions at the eleventh hour on the last day of the transfer window, January 31, has mentioned his national team coach, Didier Deschamps as one of the people who encouraged him to value a move out from the Emirate stadium.

"But the choice was clear and obvious once I knew that Antonio Conte wanted to work with me".

The lure of Italy's capital and North Rhine-Westphalia was not enough for Giroud, whose mind was made up after learning of Conte's desire to bring him to Chelsea.

"The fact is that the coach wanted to recruit a new striker [Aubameyang]". Giroud was one of Chelsea's signings on the deadline day with Emerson Palmieri sealing his move to Stamford Bridge as well.

Giroud explained: 'I had wanted to stay at Arsenal to try my luck even when Alex Lacazette arrived.

'When he signed, that made three central strikers and that is why I chose to leave. Sevilla were interested, Roma contacted my agent. Even though I'd spent five and a half magnificent years there it was logical for my career to evolve and to find a new challenge.

"The conversation was more important, I know that Conte appreciates my profile, we will work well together".
