What new Arsenal signing will think about Arsene Wenger's defence

Aubameyang's former Dortmund team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined Arsenal after coming over from Manchester United in exchange for Alexis Sanchez.

The Gabon worldwide has been in fine form for Dortmund with 13 goals in 16 Bundesliga games.

Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points behind Chelsea FC in the final Champions League qualifying spot. Assuming it takes six months for them to settle, Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan will be approaching 30 before they live up to their potential.

Least we say about the Arsenal fans!

"I will see with the medical department".

Mesut Ozil is nearly certain to start after renewing his contract this week, while Aubameyang may have to be content with a substitute appearance against the Toffees.

But more worryingly, Arsenal failed to strengthen - or even attempt to strengthen - in their most vulnerable areas.

"Our defensive numbers aren't good enough", Wenger said on Friday during his pre-match press conference.

"You have to show them respect, and that you rate the players but as well they have to accept that we live in a competitive world".

The 3-1 defeat to Swansea typically exposed each of these long-term flaws.

In the central midfield, Xhaka and Ramsey should start.

Arsenal had been linked with both Medhi Benatia and Daniele Rugani in the January transfer window but both players are not for sale and Juventus did not allow them to leave.

It was reported that Wenger made a last ditch effort to sign Evans from West Bromwich Albion before the transfer window shut last night, but the relatively low £12m offer is believed to have been dismissed immediately by the Baggies.
