Chelsea's Musonda joins Celtic on 18-month loan

The 21-year-old signed a new contract with Chelsea last month but is keen to play regular first team football with opportunities in Antonio Conte's team limited.

CHARLY MUSONDA has joined Celtic on an 18-month loan deal but is already causing some controversy on social media. But he has since made just seven appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, only two of which were starts. Firstly, if it all goes through, it is a big thank you for Chelsea because he is really one of the shining lights within the academy and has progressed through with various loans out and obviously has been part of the first team squad. However, at a club like Celtic, he can get his head down and concentrate for playing for a respectable European side.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, who was previously on the coaching staff at Chelsea, has attempted to sign Musonda in the past and has now managed to snap him up.

Celtic looks to have won the race to sign arguably Chelsea's greatest talent in 21-year-old Charly Musonda, Sky Sports reports.

Following his move on Monday, Musonda immediately unfollowed a host of Chelsea players, including his fellow countrymen Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and Michy Batshuayi.

After a previous loan spell with Real Betis in Spain's La Liga, the Belgium Under-21 global broke into the Chelsea first team this season, scoring once in seven appearances. He has wonderful ability and is very dynamic. He works very hard and loves his football.

"I was aware that 67 is a special number here so that's why I took the number and now it's up to me to carry on the legend on the pitch and enjoy and hopefully I give the fans what they are looking for".
