While Vicky Gounder was the most wanted gangster of the Punjab police, his aide Prema Lahoria was accused of escaping from the high-security jail in Punjab's Nabha district.

After receiving the input the police team surrounded the house, but the gangsters got to know of the police presence and opened fire. We hunted them down today.

Highly hailing the Punjab police cops for giving an end to Gangster's era in Punjab, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has congratulated the Punjab police.

It is said that Vicky Gounder was shot twice and is further claimed by the police that they both fired over a dozen rounds at the police.

The police said the area where the three were hiding was hardly 50 meters from Punjab's border.

The encounter was carried out by organised crime control unit (OCCU) of Punjab police.
