Undercover report exposes groping scandal at United Kingdom charity event

The event is a "secretive, men-only charity dinner held every year at London's Dorchester Hotel that raises millions for charity, but where numerous hired hostesses are groped, harassed and propositioned", Marriage reported. "Remaining funds will be distributed in an efficient manner to children's charities and it will then be closed", the charity said in a statement.

The only women at the event, attended by senior figures in business and finance from some of Britain's leading companies, were hired hostesses.

The Presidents Club says it is to close following allegations that hostesses were groped at its men-only annual charity dinner.

Representatives from the charity said it donated the rest of its funds to several children's charities, FT reported.

Responding to an undercover investigation carried out by The Financial Times, Ms Dandridge said: "I am not aware of any reports of sexual harassment and with the calibre of guest, I would be astonished". Hostesses said men's hands were up their skirts and, in one case, an attendee allegedly exposed himself to one of the hostesses, the report said. "This is not the kind of event we would wish to be associated with", the hospital said. Such behaviour is unacceptable. "I understand from reports that at this event there were allegations of inappropriate and lewd behaviour ..."

The Trust's two joint chairmen were unavailable for comment.

Furious women politicians in the United Kingdom parliament lined up to denounce the behaviour described in the article.

Politicians in the House of Commons were told one of the organisers of the charity event at the exclusive Dorchester Hotel in London, high-flying businessman David Meller, has resigned from the board of the government's Department for Education.

But Theresa May retains full confidence in Mr Zahawi, who regrets his decision to attend the dinner, the Prime Minister's spokesman added.

A junior education minister, the Conservative MP Nadhim Zahawi, went to the event.

Charities are now refusing donations from the Presidents Club Charity Dinner, at London's Dorchester Hotel.

The debaucherous nature of the evening was hinted at when the hostesses were hired.

The Financial Times reported that the women working the event were given short, tight, black dresses, black high heels, and a black belt resembling a corset. The hostesses were also given non-disclosure agreements to sign when they arrived at the venue.

Auction prizes on offer included lunches with Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and tea with Bank of England Governor Mark Carney.

"At an after-party many hostesses - some of them students earning extra cash - were groped, sexually harassed and propositioned". I thought that that sort of attitude of the objectification of women was something that was in the past. "We have to send a clear message that this is unacceptable", Milton told parliament.

Shelagh Fogarty heard from a woman who had performed at the Presidents' Club dinner.
