Why on earth did Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho drop Luke Shaw?

Carrick played in four pre-season games for United but his sole competitive appearance this season was in their League Cup win over Burton Albion when he began "feeling strange".

"I remember the first time he played [in the] Champions League [against CSKA Moscow] he was coming step by step and now, with a good run of matches and also with continuity and playing like he did, for example against Everton [on New Year's Day] two days after a previous match [against Southampton]".

The former England midfielder has often referenced the United supporters that travel to their away games as the best fan's in the business, and clearly the supporters were delighted to have him amongst them.

"I think the decision - to be at the end of the season - is a good decision for the team and a good decision for him to finish playing football and not injured or with some problem".

Shaw, who Arsenal reportedly asked for in exchange for Alexis Sanchez, has slowly worked his way back into first-team contention this season after a hard 18 months under Mourinho.

He added: "Luke has played very well".

The British Heart Foundation says an ablation is a treatment that aims to control or correct certain types of abnormal heart rhythms.

The Manchester United manager said the midfielder, the club's longest serving player, is expected to join his coaching staff from next season onwards.

Having fallen out of favour with the United boss past year, Shaw looked destined to leave Old Trafford in January, with a number of Premier League clubs said to be interested in landing his signature.
