EPL: Pogba seeks pay rise ahead of Sanchez move to Manchester United

Chilean worldwide, Alexis Sanchez has revealed that he had already spoken to the club's former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson about joining Manchester United long before he completed his move to Old Trafford.

Wenger admitted last week that Arsenal can not compete financially with either United or Manchester City amid suggestions Sanchez had signed a £500,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford.

"I am thrilled to be joining the biggest club in the world", said Sanchez, a former Barcelona player who had an opportunity to join United's neighbor and fierce Premier League rival, Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Wenger said he was happy to acquire Mkhitaryan in the deal.

"It's a dream come true because I've always dreamed of playing for Arsenal".

The 29-year-old forward - heavily linked with a switch to United's neighbours Manchester City in the previous transfer window - insisted he remained fully committed to his previous employers despite speculation over his future.

Not long after the move was completed, Sanchez took the opportunity to set the record straight after criticism from a number of "former" Arsenal players.

"Some players are born to play for Manchester United and Alexis Sanchez is one of them".

The midfielder went on to make 63 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring 13 goals.

Arsenal great Thierry Henry raised questions over Arsenal's team unity following their win at Crystal Palace last month, when the Sky Sports pundit highlighted how some players didn't celebrate Sanchez's first goal with the Chilean.

McClaren believes that while his wages may cause a rift amongst the squad, Alexis is clearly a top talent worthy of any Premier League side.

He has played 119 times for Chile and helped his nation win back-to-back Copa America titles in 2015 and 2016, although they failed to qualify for next year's World Cup in Russian Federation. "I think it is so close, so close, so close that if it doesn't happen it's not going to happen".

"They said yes. I said OK, now we can continue the discussion".
