"NVIDIA BFGD 65" Monitor 4K, 120Hz, HDR and G-Sync | CES2018

Jan 09, 2018, 00:41

Imagine a high-end 65-inch 4K resolution HDR display able to give you visuals at 120Hz refresh rate (that's double the normal frequency) - that has an NVIDIA SHIELD integrated with it. This includes G-Sync, which, like AMD's FreeSync, aims to eliminate screen tearing.

With SHIELD, Nvidia has made streaming easy and fast, they keep on making it better with every update. This will allow access to services like Netflix, Amazon Video, NVIDIA GameStream, Android games and apps, and Google Assistant. BFGDs also supports company's remote and gaming controller. Acer also made a decision to incorporate Google Assistant so that the Predator can double as voice-activated smart home controller. The display delivers 1,000 nits peak luminance and local dimming provides higher contrast, deeper blacks and brighter whites. All of these great Shield integrations mean the displays could really be a serious option for swapping out your TV. The supersized Predator gaming display builds on the same top-of-the-line specifications that its smaller cousins boast, and integrates NVIDIA SHIELD streaming capabilities to play movies and TV shows in stunning 4K HDR. Currently, most gamers who are looking to play with supersize screens use TVs but these miss vital technology support like G-SYNC, which smoothes out game performance.

"Throw in some Andoid-based Nvidia SHIELD tech, a large 65" display and models now expected from the likes of Acer, ASUS and HP, and colour us - interested.

NVIDIA did not reveal when we can expect these monitors to hit the market, however, our guess is that they'll be coming somewhere in 2018. As there's nothing really novel inside this gaming monitor I doubt we'll be waiting long before it appears for sale. NVIDIA says that the screens will likely hit the stores in the summer.
