Fired engineer who wrote sexist manifesto sues Google

Photo James Damore's lawsuit against Google, which fired him a year ago after he criticized its diversity efforts, said, "Google's open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender".

Damore's original memo, which was leaked this fall, criticized Google's "left leaning" culture and argued that women in engineering were paid less than men due to their biological differences, not because of hiring practice.

"Google's open hostility for conservative thought is paired with invidious discrimination on the basis of race and gender".

The men are being represented by Harmeet K. Dhillon, the Republican National Committee's Comitteewoman for California.

It goes on to write that Google employs "illegal hiring quote to fill its desired percentages of women and favored minority candidates, and openly shames managers of business units who fail to meet their quotas - in the process, openly denigrating male and Caucasian employees as less favored than others".

Damore's lawsuit is the latest legal challenge for Google, which also faces a suit for unequal pay.

As BuzzFeed News reports, several women have filed discrimination suits against Google, alleging that the company paid them less than their male counterparts, and faulting the company for asking the female hires about prior pay. That month, the Dhillon Law Group published a blog post asking for anyone who had experienced illegal or retaliatory employment practices to get in touch.

It alleges that Google singles out and punish employees like Damore who expressed views that don't align with how the majority of employees at the tech firm feel about politics and diversity efforts.
