Haley's Iran Session at UN Turns Into Defense of Nuclear Deal

US Ambassador Nikki Haley said "Iran is now on notice: the world will be watching what you do", during an emergency meeting of UN Security Council on mass anti-government protests in Iran. "The US stands unapologetically with those who seek freedom for themselves and prosperity for their families".
Russian Federation challenged right at the outset the jurisdiction of the UNSC over a situation that it called a strictly domestic affair of Iran that would be best left for the Iranian authorities to deal with.
Briefing the Security Council, Taye-Brook Zerihoun, Assistant UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said the demonstrations taking place in Iran were a fundamental expression of human rights, and a powerful exhibition of fearless people who were so fed up with their oppressive regime that they were willing to risk their lives in protest.
Iran is not a member of the Security Council but its ambassador, Gholamali Khoshroo, was invited to participate. "Let Iran deal with its own problems".
British Ambassador to the UN, Matthew Rycroft, refuted the Iranian allegations and said that no one is forcing Iran onto their agenda.
Under its charter, the United Nations empowers the council to "investigate any dispute, or any situation which might lead to global friction".
