Marcus Mariota throws touchdown to himself against Chiefs

Jan 07, 2018, 05:48

Here on Saturday, Henry took it out on the Chiefs in the team's 22-21 win in the AFC Wild Card round.

The Chiefs, who won their final four games of the regular season to clinch their second straight AFC West title, took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by National Football League rushing champ Kareem Hunt.

The Titans took the lead for good when Marcus Mariota connected with Eric Decker on a 22-yard TD pass with 6:06 to go in the game.

Smith completed a couple of short passes and set the Chiefs up with a 1st and 10 from the Titans' 45 yard line.

Especially the games at Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs went three-and-out on the next drive.

"Whenever you lose it always hurts, regardless of if it's one point or 20 points".

In the first half, Johnson blitzed in a flash and sacked Mariota, who clearly lost the ball before he hit the ground.

The Bills visit the Jaguars and the Panthers visit the Saints on Sunday, and the outcome of those games will determine whom the winners on Saturday will face next week.

"I thought that's why we had replay and some of those things", Smith said afterward.

Mariota was credited both with the scoring pass and reception. The Titans failed on the two-point conversion attempt.

What makes Mariota unsafe, however, is his ability to run the ball.

The Tennessee Titans nearly had a brutal collapse in the final two minutes against the Chiefs after making a comeback of their own.

Play-by-play man Sean McDonough congratulated Gruden on his transition back to coaching, and the former Raiders and Buccaneers head coach replied: "Nothing is official yet but these Chiefs fans have been on my case since I got here". "It's not worth it". But review of the play showed Henry was down before the ball came loose.

The officials gave the ball back to the Titans and this time they ran out the clock. With 3rd and 10 looming, the Titands could either run the ball and the clock or opt to throw the ball and risk stopping the clock and leaving the Chiefs with just under two minutes and a timeout.

The result was yet another heartbreak for a franchise that has known its share of them. "Nobody likes losing and this one's for real".
