Schools on a two-hour delay

ECP Early College students will not report back to school until January 3, the official said.

The cancellation also includes all extracurricular activities.

Much like the students who were resting, the 77 buses the school system uses were on a break too.

The school districts will continue monitoring the progression of the winter storm and will give another update on Wednesday afternoon if further schedule changes are necessary for Thursday. "The last thing we want to happen is have our students waiting by the curb for a bus that's a half hour to an hour late when it's 14 degrees".

"Over the past couple of days, DeKalb County has experienced extreme cold temperatures for our area", Barnett said.

Elizabeth City-Pasquotank Public Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay January 2.

Huntsville City Schools are delaying their start time by two hours Wednesday through Friday.

Guntersville says they will also delay the start of school by two hours Wednesday through Friday.
