Possible Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date

NME.com has contacted Rockstar Studios to ask if the leaked release date is accurate.

A possible Red Dead Redemption 2 release date has popped up on Danish retailer Coolshop's website. That, coupled with a specific Friday date in June, is leading folks to speculate that they might have pulled back the curtain too early again.

For Red Dead Redemption 2, Coolshop published a date of June 8, 2018.

We're sure Rockstar's PR team has a plan but, if June 8 is indeed the new launch date, you would think The Game Awards earlier this month would have been the flawless time to make the final reveal. Players have been waiting for a sequel to Red Dead Redemption since it was released for the PS 3 and Xbox 360 at May 18, 2010.

It's not uncommon for retailers to use placeholders in their listings but it merits mentioning here that this retailer has previously revealed the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of Grand Theft Auto 5 before their official announcement. While Rockstar and Take Two have yet to announce or confirm the release date, we can likely expect some news from them soon as we head into 2018. However, an online retailer in Denmark may have just spilled the beans.

We have contacted Rockstar for clarification on its launch intentions for the game, and Coolshop on the June 8 date it posted.

Rockstar originally said that the game was going to be released in fall 2017 but that didn't happen.

It should also be noted, June 12 is the first day of E3 2018, the popular LA video game convention, and it would make sense for Rockstar to attempt to capitalize on the hype.

In case you don't know, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a Western drama like just its predecessor. Tell us in the comments.
