There's some good news for Ohio's minimum wage workers.

Governor Cuomo announced Sunday that 2018 will see the beginning of various economic justice programs for the middle class, including minimum wage increases, paid family leave policy, and tax cuts for the middle class. Under the new law, no locality could have a wage floor higher than the one mandated by the state.

Another minimum wage hike will be coming for NY workers Sunday.

Minimum wage workers are already making more than that in Emeryville, where the minimum wage is $15.20 - reportedly the highest rate in the country.

A group is circulating petitions to put raising Michigan's minimum wage to $12 an hour by 2022 on the November ballot.

The minimum wage is slowly being increased to $15 an hour in NY.

Horrigan said phasing in the increases will be beneficial to businesses as it allows them to adapt.

Dozens of cities and counties have also raised their minimum wages beyond the state and federal levels. Fast-food employees in the rest of the state will get a $1 raise, from $10.75 to $11.75 an hour.

Of the 22 European Union member states with a minimum wage, only workers in Luxembourg (€1,999 per month) receive a higher monthly minimum wage than workers in Ireland, who take home €1,563 per month, according to the report, valid as of January 1, 2017.

Beginning New Year's Day, a new family leave policy will take effect, allowing job-protected paid time off for new parents, caretakers, and family members of active military personnel serving overseas.
