Facing backlash, Congress MLA Asha Kumari apologises for slapping woman constable

The incident reportedly occurred when Asha Kumari was said to have been denied entry for the review meeting by Congress President in the midst of huge crowd at the entrance of the venue.

After the incident, the Congress president disapproved Kumari's action of slapping the woman police constable on duty. "I am sorry for the incident".

Party leaders and workers started jostling to enter the office soon after Gandhi went inside the building amid a tight security at the Congress office.

In a video, Congress MLA Asha Kumari can be seen slapping a woman constable and getting slapped back. "She (the lady police constable) abused me and pushed me, she should have shown restrain". In retaliation, the constable also slapped the MLA.

However, things never stopped here, as the woman constable slapped Kumari back in a fit of rage.

At a Congress meeting later, Rahul said it was not Congress culture to slap anybody. Congress had faced a massive loss after it was able to get only 21 seats in the 68-member assembly.

Kumari, who had managed to retain her Dalhousie seat in the polls despite the BJP wave in the hill state, was apparently late for the meeting.

During a day-long visit to Shimla, the Congress President will review the party's performance in the recently-held Himachal Pradesh assembly election. I am her mother's age, but yes I agree I should not have lost my temper.
