Vanity Fair Apologises For Video Suggesting Hillary Clinton Takes Up Knitting

"Anna Wintour, who was all set to be Ambassador to Court of St James's and a big fundraiser for CH, is beside herself in grief and begging for forgiveness!"

However, the outrage seemed to only swirl on Twitter (in select corners of the site, at that), and Vanity Fair is not the first to question Clinton's post-election presence, which extended well into 2017.

Vanity Fair's political vertical The Hive is being slammed after the site posted a video in which staff talk about Hillary Clinton.

Ms Wintour is the editor-in-chief of Vogue, not Vanity Fair. "Get someone on your tech staff to disable autofill on your iPhone so that typing in "F" doesn't become 'form exploratory committee for 2020, '" recommends one staffer, while another advises Clinton to "put away your James Comey voodoo doll" in the new year.

Among the suggestions: that Clinton take up knitting, volunteer work or any hobby that would keep her from running again for president.

Actress Patricia Arquette replied: "Hey STOP TELLING WOMEN WHAT THE F*** THEY SHOULD DO OR CAN DO".

It's been well over a year since Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election.

Democratic strategist and former aide to Clinton and John Kerry, Peter Daou‏, also came out to defend Clinton.

"It (the video) was an attempt at humor and we regret that it missed the mark", said Vanity Fair in a statement, Entertainment Weekly reported. "History will judge that campaign, and it's always a period of time before they do", he said.

The hashtag #CancelVanityFair began trending yesterday as commenters pledged to no longer subscribe to the magazine for its video. She doesn't work on Vanity Fair exclusively.

Trump has attacked Vanity Fair and its former editor Graydon Carter for years. In an April 1988 issue of Spy magazine (which Carter co-founded), Trump was famously referred to as a "short-fingered vulgarian".

Others pointed out, however, that Trump may not have been confused at all, since Wintour is editorial director of all of Conde Nast's magazines.

Before the president addressed it, the story hadn't received much coverage beyond online media, save for the outlet that inspires many of his tweets: Fox News.
