Snapchat to expand reach with 'Stories Everywhere' feature

Once you find it, the new feature will give you the options to edit, save, or send the story.

The main idea behind Stories Everywhere is to increase the user base, which has been stagnant.

The "Stories Everywhere" feature, which Snapchat hope will provide for more user growth, is reportedly being developed with the aim of being released next year. Stories Highlights is an addition to your profile where you can save your favourite Stories. The success of this feature has been undeniable and it seems that other social media platforms have finally made a decision to emulate it. When it becomes available, you can use it to share stories from outside of the platform.

According to news platform Cheddar, which broke the story, Snap has hired former NewsCorp executive and CEO of social data analytics firm Storyful, Rahul Chopra, to head the "Stories Everywhere" project. This feature will allow the social media site to become an outlet for news and other video verticals.

With this move, Snapchat could make it easier to share videos on other platforms through a web player that also prompts people to sign up and download the app, the person familiar with the matter told Cheddar.

The company has also announced that it will redesign the Android version of the Snapchat app. According to the company it had 178 million daily users at the end of the third quarter, but the growth rate has been slowing, meanwhile rival Instagram says it has surged to more than 800 million monthly users. These videos which are curated via algorithms and Snap employees cover everything from breaking news videos to sports games. And this will mark the first time that Snap will allow its users to widely distribute its content. Instagram Stories which is just a year old has lapped up close to 300 million active users.
