USC QB Darnold has no qualm playing for Browns

While Rosen is not skipping his bowl game to prepare for the draft, several players have done so over the last couple of years. That out the way, the redshirt sophomore is playing something of the anti-Josh Rosen in this situation.

Sam Darnold said that he'd be "honored to play for any team", when asked how he would look in a Cleveland Browns uniform. Fortunately for the Browns, Darnold just made taking him a lot easier as he won't put up a fuss like Rosen would if selected by the team with the top pick. But with the first pick in the second round, Cleveland could always jump up into a late first-round pick for a quarterback, which would be all the more appealing given the fifth-year option it would have on a potentially successful signal-caller. Because of the presence of the Denver Broncos, now at sixth pick and the New York Jets, now sitting seventh, even if one of them were to sign Cousins, they could use the other to leverage the Giants to give up something to ensure they get Rosen to be the heir to Eli Manning.

The expectation is that Rosen would prefer to play in NY as Eli Manning's heir.

Neither quarterback has to enter the draft.

If he does declare, some Browns fans thought he was a sure thing with the No. 1 overall pick.

There's a certain courage, whether Rosen realizes it or not, to his willingness to speak so openly about so many institutions that have been baked into the National Football League experience.

None of that changes the fact that no team, no organization wants to be associated with any player insinuating or saying outright that their team isn't a place where they want to be.

Combining Rosen's questionable personality and the NY market (on and off the field) could be futile in the eyes of some, but the Giants organization will be the final judge of that, assuming Cleveland passes on him.
