Sony in Talks For Mad About You Revival Series

Now, joining the likes of Will & Grace and Roseanne, Mad About You, the former NBC sitcom that aired from 1992 to 1999, is in informal talks to return to network television via Sony Pictures Television Studios, reveals TVLine.

The revival's plot would likely see Paul (Reiser) and Jamie (Hunt) Buchman dealing their now-17-year-old daughter Mabel heading off to college, according to TVLine.

Reiser said at the time that he had always been opposed to the idea of a revival, partly because the original series - which wrapped its seven-season run in 1999 - concluded with a flash-forward set 22 years into the future.

The show followed the lives of newlyweds Paul Buchman (Reiser) and Jamie (Hunt), who were shown handling their early years of marriage and, eventually, a daughter.

No deals are in place and a network is not now attached.

"Now, because everybody's talking about it, I started to think, 'Maybe if there's a story we could come up with, '" Reiser continued.

"People were asking about bringing 'Mad About You, ' and for years I said no, why would you?" the actor and the show's co-creator said. I always said no to a reunion or a reboot, and now that everybody keeps asking, it's possible... Sony TV also produced a Mad About You adaptation in China. "Our thinking at the time was, 'Let's make sure we never get tempted to come back - let's tell them what happens, '" Reiser noted. Mad About You was nearly canceled until it was slotted with Seinfeld and Frasier on must-see comedy Thursday nights in 1993. Are you enjoying the reboots you've seen so far? Hunt has since gone on to win an Oscar for Best Actress in As Good as It Gets as well as a filmmaker and TV director.

Another one of TV's most beloved sitcoms may be making its way back to the small screen!
