OnePlus 5 to get 5T's face unlock feature

Pei did not say exactly when OnePlus 5 owners will be able to unlock their phones with their mugs, though we suspect it will be sooner than later (as in weeks, not months). It is not fair for OnePlus 5 smartphone owners to be devoid of this particular feature. Adaptive model calibrations for the screen are included in this update as well as a new design for the Quick Settings and Lift up display section. Meanwhile, a stable Android Oreo update has been released for OnePlus 5. Gallery also updates with the addition of "Places" tab for viewing photos on a map.

You will also notice that with the OnePlus 5 devices that get the new OxygenOS 5 update, you have a history to your calculator now.

That said, OnePlus 5T's Face Unlock feature has been quite popular. The Oxygen launcher will also be updated with a new user-interface as well. The company has officially stated that the older phone is getting this feature as well.

However, it is unclear when the feature will be rolled out. Whether or not OnePlus takes SensibleVision up on their offer remains to be seen as the company has yet to comment on the matter. The feature proved to be so successful and popular amongst the users that the company has finally made a decision to update the software on its predecessor, OnePlus 5, and introduce the feature of Face Unlock on the previous model as well. The update brings a slew of new features and improvements such as optimisation for shelf, new camera UI, beauty effect in Portrait mode, and alarm calendar. We have basically told you all of the most important features coming in this update, but there are even more you will have to check out once you install the update. That makes for a facial scan that's less secure and unique, but also faster, and crucially, one that's only based in software.

OnePlus is bringing Face Unlock to the OnePlus 5.

Whether the feature will arrive on the older OnePlus devices is something that is still unknown at this point in time.
