Amazon's Happy Holiday: Over 4 Million Try Prime During A Single Week

The Echo Dot led the sales of "tens of millions" of Alexa-enabled devices worldwide, according to the company, which said Echo Dot, Echo Spot, and Echo Buttons sold out this holiday season.

However, the company has never announced how many Prime members it has; as of September 2017, Amazon Prime had about 90 million USA members (up 38%), according to estimates by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners.

The most popular items purchased by voice were the Echo Dot, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote and TP-Link Smart Plug Mini. Small businesses and entrepreneurs who sell their products on Amazon's platform accounted for almost 140 million items that were ordered.

A day after Christmas, Amazon is boldly proclaiming it celebrated its "biggest" Christmas yet behind a holiday sales surge of its Amazon Echo products.

"Customers shopped from hundreds of millions of products, including a vast selection from small businesses and entrepreneurs".

In the USA, more than 6,000 trailers and 32 Amazon Air planes helped get holiday orders to customers this season.

Alexa customers used their device to turn on their holiday lights more than 1 million times.

Amazon's record-breaking holiday season signals mounting trouble for brick-and-mortar retailers already struggling in the face of the e-commerce giant.

It said it has delivered 1 million customer packages in a single day across its 10 North American and European fulfillment centers.

Prime members shopped more than 100,000 Lightning Deals on with Prime Early Access.

The small, low-priced Echo Dot was the top-selling product on Amazon across all categories, and the newer Echo Spot and Echo Buttons also sold out.

Amazon's strong holiday season is likely to keep many investors excited over its future prospects.
