Owner of dogs that killed Kentucky woman charged

Officials said that Bethany Stephens was killed by her two pit bulls while she was walking in Goochland County, Virginia, last week.

Lorraine Brock Saylor, 66, was feeding the birds when she was viciously attacked by the pit bulls at her residence.

The call came in around 10:20 a.m. Sunday morning.

At the time of the attack, Lankford was in the Bell County Detention Center for crimes related to assault, domestic violence, and unlawful imprisonment. He now faces another charge of harboring a vicious animal, the sheriff's department said. When he went outside to see what the commotion was, he saw the two dogs attacking his brother. "They were both active within the community and just, like I said, two of the nicest people you would ever meet".

Lankford's two dogs which attacked the woman. They say the woman died from her injuries in the attack. Her husband was hospitalized.

The Bell County Sheriff's Department determined the dogs do not belong to the couple.

Bell County Coroner Jay Steele says Johnny suffered a bite on his head, arm and hand.

According to the Bell County Sheriff's Office, the man shot and killed one of the dogs, but the other ran off. Deputies believe it is injured and say that the dogs do not belong to the couple. The other dog escaped, and the Bell County Sheriff's Department is now searching for it. An autopsy for Saylor is scheduled for 9 a.m. Tuesday in Frankfort, Ky.

He fatally shot one of the pit bulls as it lunged at him, but the other managed to run off and is still missing, according ot the news station.
