Dead In Christmas Eve Fire At Abington Senior Housing Complex

A fire that began in the garage destroyed a northwest Prineville home on Christmas Eve morning, but the residents escaped unhurt, Crook County Fire & Rescue officials said. When they arrived, crews found a home with heavy flames coming through windows and climbing up to the eves.

Jeremy Markle also lives at the home, said he and his girlfriend were inside when the fire started.

Firefighters put out the fire fairly quickly.

Firefighters responded to the blaze shortly after 6 a.m.at a two-story house in the 10400 block of South State, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The fire departments in the area, which hold a toy drive every year are letting the family get gifts from the drive. Walsh said three people were injured, with two refusing transport and a third transported to a hospital in good condition.

The source of the fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross will find the family temporary house while officials investigate.

There were no injuries and the fire was limited to one room with extensive smoke damage throughout.
