Christmas celebrated in Odisha

Kozhikode: Christmas, which marks the birth of Jesus Christ, is being celebrated across Kerala with religious fervour and gaiety on Monday. For members of the Christian faith, Christmas is the day that the son of God, Jesus Christ was born.

Commander Rawalpindi Corps was also present during the Christmas festivities. "This year also we did not make it so big, but colourful celebrations are taking place", said Father Roy at the Holy Family Catholic Church on MA Road in Srinagar.

St. Charles Catholic Church in Lima held their Christmas Day mass this morning.

The church wore a festive look with buntings and balloons decorated all over it. "It was pleasing to see lot of non-Christians celebrating Christmas with the community".

It offers us a break from the worries of the everyday world and a chance to focus on things that really matter - the people we love and the communities we care about.

Other churches in the city including Saint Luke's Church and All Saints' Church, oldest church of Jammu Kashmir in north Kashmir's Baramulla, Saint Joseph's Church and Saint Mary's Church in Gulmarg witnessed similar gatherings.

"We are disappointed that there was no snowfall on Christmas eve".

The Tourism Department had made elaborate arrangements for making the festival grand lighting up lanterns and organizing cultural programmes.

The department this week has lined up seminars at Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad in which leading travel agents from across the country and outside have been invited.
